Overview

A B2B software company in finance operations sold almost entirely through partners. Its own website brought in little. Rocketship rebuilt the site as an ongoing program, then built search, content, and paid demand on top of it, with every lead and deal tracked in HubSpot.

Nine months later, the website is the company’s largest source of new revenue. Web-sourced closed-won revenue through September 2026 was 2.5 times the same period in 2025 and had reached 97% of the full-year goal with a quarter to go.

The challenge: one channel and a quiet brand

Growth depended on one channel. Partners brought in most new business, and the website was a brochure that didn’t produce pipeline on its own. Few buyers knew the company existed, and the ones who found the site had no clear path to a demo.

The company couldn’t outspend the larger names in its category, so the buyers who were already looking had to find it, and the site had to convert them once they arrived.

The approach: foundation first, then demand

We fixed the foundation before adding traffic, rebuilding the home, demo, and pricing pages as a continuous improvement program (Growth-Driven Design), with a self-serve pricing calculator so buyers could see value before talking to sales.

Then we added demand on top: a content and technical SEO program targeted the questions the company’s buyers search for, and paid search captured buyers already in market. We set up HubSpot so every marketing-qualified lead and every web-sourced deal could be traced to its source.

Organic search, paid search, and AI assistants now feed a pipeline that used to depend on partners alone.

01

Pricing calculator

Buyers who used it arrived at the demo call already knowing the rough cost, which shortens the conversation.

02

Search content

Pages written for the specific questions finance teams ask, which also made the company visible in AI-assistant answers.

03

Paid search

Campaigns aimed at buyers already in market, including a campaign targeting users of a competing product mid-migration.

The results

Web-sourced closed-won revenue through September was 2.5 times the same nine months of 2025. It reached 97% of the full-year 2026 goal with a quarter still to go.

Web’s share of all closed-won revenue rose from 33% in Q1 to 60% in Q3. A channel that had been a side note became the main one.

Marketing-qualified leads came in at 142 against a planned pace of 120. Those leads produced 18 web-sourced opportunities. Of the 15 that have been decided, 7 closed, a 47% win rate. Median time from opportunity to close was 78 days, so revenue in any quarter mostly reflects leads from the quarter before.

Organic search sessions averaged about 3,300 a month through June and about 5,900 a month in Q3, up 77%. AI assistants began sending referral traffic in June and have every month since.

What this means for you

If your growth depends on one channel, you’re one partner decision away from a bad quarter. The fix is to build a second channel you own.

Fix the site first so every visitor lands somewhere built to convert. Then earn the searches your buyers are already running. Then measure all of it in one place so you know which channel created which deal.

Do it in that order and the website becomes a revenue source you control. Skip the first step and the traffic leaks out of a site that was never built to hold it.

Questions buyers ask about this work

How long does it take for SEO to produce revenue for a B2B SaaS company?

Plan in quarters. This company’s web revenue was 27% of goal at the end of Q2 and 97% at the end of Q3, because deals take about 78 days to close and organic compounds.

What is Growth-Driven Design?

Growth-Driven Design treats a website as a product that improves continuously from real user data, instead of a redesign that is finished at launch and frozen.

Should a smaller SaaS company invest in SEO or paid search?

Both, with different jobs. Paid search captures buyers already comparing options. Organic search compounds and gets cheaper over time.

How do you track website revenue in HubSpot?

Record the source on every contact, carry it to the opportunity, and report web-sourced deals by close date. The company’s attribution shows MQLs, qualified leads, opportunities, and revenue by month.

Does AI search send real traffic to B2B sites?

Yes, and it’s growing. This company saw AI-assistant referrals appear in June 2026 and continue every month since, as a result of the same content built for Google.
